Derek Cain joined ADS in 2018 as the Sensor Manager for the Aerial Photography Department. Mr. Cain brings a wealth of experience in aeronautics and operations through his service in the United States Air Force and managing large DoD programs for a major prime defense contractor. During his active duty Air Force service, Mr. Cain served as a Space Surveillance Crew Commander at the NORAD Space Control Center and later as Chief of Current Operations, tasking the Space Surveillance Network and analyzing daily RADAR and optical metric data on over 10,000 orbiting objects. After active duty, he transitioned to the Missouri Air National Guard/157th Air Operations Group in St. Louis, Missouri as a field grade officer. During his time in the ANG, he served as a senior space and missile officer within strategy and combat operations divisions to provide deployed command and control of air and space operations within the theater Air Operations Center (AOC). He was also responsible for theater missile defense monitoring and space applications input to daily Air Tasking Orders. During his professional career in Aerospace, he has spent the last twenty years in leadership roles with a focus on aviation and aerospace. Most recently, he managed the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Airborne Sensors (ABS) Program to provide aircraft modification, sensor design/integration, maintenance & flight operations, deployed mission operations, and data collection, processing and exploitation capability on a fleet of Gulfstream special mission aircraft.
